Web Development Company
Web Development Company-is the buzz word, but not many people understand the true meaning of Web Development. Most people associate Web Designing with Web Development, which is not only misleading but really cramps up the vision of what real Web Development can do.

Web Development is the larger picture where Web Designing is just a small part of it. Not taking away the credit from a good designed website, it cannot really answer important queries and does not provide the interactive functionalities that a good website which is developed using the right technology can. Just to have a flash or a professional corporate website is not enough in today’s business world.

The consumers have become savvier and they need an extra push to really get interested of what you want to present from your website. A good Web Development India company is aware of this and firstly delves into the actual requirement of the business for which the website is being developed.

There are important factors which need to be considered such as the technology platform to be used which could vary from Open source to Windows, depending on the security that the website requires, traffic that the website will create and the type of users that will actually use the web platform.

Then there is the need for interaction. In today’s world most recognized and successful websites are highly interactive and provide a two way communication where in the user can actually talk to the website and find answers to his queries. There are functionalities such as Blogs, Forums, Message Board which if used in the right manner can create a huge difference to make a website successful.

In simple words, a good Web Development Company company will help you develop a website that will get you the desired results at present and will have the room to absorb future technological advancements to have your website be updated at all times. Do not loose the opportunity that the Internet World has opened today. Make the most of it and choose the right Web Development Partner who not only creates good websites but understands your business well to develop a complete web solution that can take you an edge higher from your competition.

At the latest IT Meet in April 2008, IT Chimes made a compelling case for Website Development India through an example of one of their client Woodsvilla Resort. Their bookings for the resort increased by 30% within a year of getting their website live which was design and developed by IT Chimes. The ease of navigation, interactivity which the website provides, on-line booking engine has provided the platform where a user can log-on to the website and make their bookings hassle free with much ease.

Vipin Aggarwal Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Woodsvilla Resort said “It was one of my best business decisions to get the website developed from IT Chimes. The team has been very professional in their approach and delivered on time. I have already given two more websites Club 9 Resort and Mangosteen to IT Chimes for which the works has already started.”

IT Chimes differs from other Web Development Company company in their approach to truly understand the client’s requirement and provide a solution which delivers and gets the highest ROI for the client. File Formats
Written by Dennis Bosher

In this article we are going to talk about the many different file formats that the client may or may not request. The source file is the file that you work in, that contains the layered information. If you are using Photoshop the file will have the suffix .psd. The .psd file is the most important file because it does contain all of the information, text and layers, which is needed in order to accurately edit the design if ever needed.

Other important file formats include, png, jpg, gif, bmp, etc… We will discuss each of these and explain some of the pros and cons of using each. Each of these is referred to as bitmap or raster formats. Each of these formats is resolution dependant. This means when resized they will not maintain the quality that is has at the original size. Alternatively if your design is created using vector shapes and paths, you can save your file in vector format.

Some vector formats include, eps, ai, etc.., these formats unlike raster formats, will maintain there image quality when resized within Photoshop, or another graphic program. They use paths, and a mathematical system to display graphics instead of pixels. Vector graphics are usually necessary for print materials. I highly encourage you to look into vector graphics; many businesses will require a vector format. For most web graphics any raster format will suffice.

I will start my description of other raster formats with my favorite, png. Portable Network Graphic. This format is in my opinion superior to all. It supports transparency, grayscale, 24 bit images, and much more. The best thing about it, is that it maintains the highest amount of quality. Even with transparent backgrounds, unlike gif, it maintains its quality. The only downfall to this format, is that is some older browsers, the transparency is not recognized. Other than that, png format is in my opinion the best raster format available at this time.

The next format i will touch on is jpeg. Joint Photographic Expert Group. Jpeg is commonly used for photographs and other continuous tone images within HTML documents. It is not a bad format to use for basic image display. It does lose some quality but it is compatible with all browsers.

Another format is gif. Graphics Interchange Format. This is also a great format for the right occasion. One benefit is it also can be used with a transparent background, however if you have drop shadows or glows, they will not covert very well. Also there is quite a bit of quality lost, almost to a pixilated state. Another benefit is that you can use this format to create animations.

Another useful format would be pdf. Portable Document Format. Pdf files accurately displays and preserves fonts, vector graphics, and quality over all, making it a great format for print.

These are just a few formats that you may be required to deliver as a designer. From my experience the best format to use for presentation is png, due to the retention of quality. I would also suggest that you encourage your clients to use it as well.

When in need of a vector format, you need to make sure that the document is created using paths and vector graphics or it will not retain quality.

With the above file formats you should have no problem delivering the perfect file format to your clients.

Getting Paid
Once you have learned the basic outline of presenting a design to a client in a contest, you will need to know what to do if you happen to win. You may not be so lucky at first, but if you do win, what do you do next? Well the most used payment processor in the world would be paypal. You can almost guarantee that your client will either have paypal, or be able to use it to pay you. There are other payment processors as well that you can look into such as, Google Check out, Alert Pay, and a few others. Paypal is probably the most used.

Payment processors are a way for your clients to pay you online. The client will go to the payment processor page, and send funds into your account on that payment processor, where you can later transfer those funds into your own bank account. Most payment processors accept all major credit cards, e-checks, and some other forms of payment as well.

The first thing you need to do is create an account at the payment processor of your choice. You will need a bank account to do this. Once you are completely set up, you may have to verify your account. Sometimes this is done by verifying a couple small deposits to your bank account made by the payment processor. When you identify the amounts, this verifies your bank account.

Now that your payment processor is all set up, you can begin to be paid for your services. There are several ways to collect your payment. Suppose we are going to use paypal for our payment processor. One way to collect your payment is to have the client log into their own paypal account and send the funds to you email address associated with your paypal account. This is pretty simple; however all of your clients may not have paypal accounts. In this case you have a couple other options. You can request money, by clicking the request money from the paypal website, and send a request to your clients email, where they will receive the email and it will direct them to the payment page, and they can use there credit card or other payment type. Or you can send them an invoice. This is good if you are charging them for multiple items or services as it allows you to list multiple items and prices. I also like to use the send invoice option, because it provides the client with some decent paper work to track there purchases. In my opinion this is the most professional way to handle payments. It's basically sending them a bill which gives them the option to pay using the paypal website. Then of course once you receive the payment in your paypal account, you can transfer it to your own bank account.

Depending on which type of account you have you may incur some small charges. I suggest using the business account, which adds a slight charge to each transaction, but it's worth it. Without the business account, your credit card transactions are limited, making it difficult to do business with many clients.

One thing you must remember is to never give out your payment processor account information. Never tell anyone your password, and be sure your password is a very complex one that would be hard to guess. There are also phishing websites that you need to be aware of. These are clone sites that look and act just like paypal or other payment processors, with the sole purpose of steeling your account information. The way they work is, you receive an email telling you have an unconfirmed charge on your account and asks you to click this link to log in. This link then takes you to a site which looks just like your payment processor page, but its not. It's a fake. It will ask you to log in and once you do your password and username or email will then be sent to an individual that plans on using your account to do their own bidding. I have received hundreds of phishing emails, sometimes they change it a bit here or there, but they always send you to this clone page, that asks you to log in. One way i have noticed to determine if it is a phishing site or not, is to look in the browsers url input box, and see what url is showing. Is it http://www.paypal.com? Or is it something like http://bobsfishhouse.com/eeerr/gt67.html? Either way, never trust an email asking you to log in. Always go directly to the paypal or other processor site, using your browser, by directly typing in the correct url.

Payment processors like paypal are a great and easy way to process all of your payments. Another option would be to look into actual merchant accounts using major credit cards directly on your site. I am not very familiar with how it works, so i won't go into too much detail. But using paypal, i can tell you this... I've never needed any merchant services. A Website. A Portal. An Opportunity
Written by Dennis Bosher

What is a website? Is it just an online store? Is it just a place for you to vent your feelings? Is it a place to display your art? A website can be all of these things and more. A website gives you the opportunity, to say this is who I am, And this is what I do. Before you create your website, you need a purpose for the site. What will be the purpose? What will it offer others? How can you benefit from it? These are very important questions. Do you wish to display your poems? Or perhaps you need it to act as a store to sell your product. The purpose is not that important, as long as you have one.

A website opens doors. It allows the public a chance to view what you would like them to view. When you have a website, a purpose, and a little initiative, a lot can come from it. Create a Presence
One important element of a successful business, is to create a memorable presence. Whether it be on the web or the physical world. There are many ways to obtain this presence.

1. Appropriate Logo

Just any logo will not do. Your logo must be an appropriate fit for your business. If you are running a web design business, you would want a web 2.0 style logo. this would keep your business looking up to date in its industry. If your business was construction, your logo would be a bit simpler. you would not require the elements that come with web 2.0.

2. Appropriate Marketing

In order to succeed in a competitive world. You must have the best marketing strategies to help spread the word of your business. In this day and age competition exists in every industry. You need to stay ahead of your competitors. Using programs such as Google Adwords, or Yahoo Publisher can help you get the word spread around the web. Contact your local radio, or television station to spread your business among other medias.

3. Quality and Customer Service

One of the main things that will help your business is delivering a quality service. By delivering quality in your service, the client will think highly of your business, and then, word of mouth can become another marketing strategy, as well as adding to the success of your business. Always treat clients in a professional way. Knowing what your talking about, and speaking to clients in a professional manor, assures clients that they have chosen a competent business.
Web 2.0
Written by Dennis Bosher

What is web 2.0? Wikipedia defines web 2.0 as "a term describing the trend in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aims to enhance creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, collaboration among users" To be more specific web 2.0 is actually much more. Web 2.0 is the modern style or trend, that designers use to create an up to date (modern) design.

Web 2.0 consist of many elements such as:

1. Rounded Text (logos) - Web 2.0 text normally consist of rounded and smooth edges.

2. Gradients - Web 2.0 designs are usually made up of many gradients rather than a solid color. For example, website backgrounds, text colors, navigation and divider bars all normally contain a gradient to its color scheme.

3. Reflections - Most web 2.0 designs incorporate reflection into the design. Examples include reflection of logos, products, or other items.

The above items are just a few important elements that encompass the trend that is web 2.0.

Water Mark Tutorial
Written by Dennis Bosher

Water Mark Your Work

When working in the graphic design industry, one thing i have learned is watermarks are a must. If you get paid up-front, that's one thing, but if you wait for payment on completion, I highly recommend it. Below is a basic tutorial on how to add a watermak using photoshop

This is a tutorial that will show you how to watermark your work to prevent people from stealing it.
This tutorial was posted by someone else but was replaced, and due to popular demand, has been brought back.

Ok, first things first.

1. Create new document with transparent Back Ground. Size can be about 500px X 500px
2. Now type whatever you want your text to say, or use your logo, which is what I do in mine.

3. Then, right click the text layer in the layers toolbar and click rasterize layer.

4. Now, if you wish you can rotate the text at an angle.

5. Now select the crop tool and crop the text, so you have just the text in the crop window.

6. Now just go to edit, (if you do not see define pattern, you may need to click show all menu items) then click define pattern. And name your watermark

7. That’s it you are done.

Using your water mark

1. Open the image you want to watermark.
2. Add a new layer; put it on top of the rest.
3. Make sure the new layer is selected and go to edit, then fill, then select your watermark from the custom pattern box.
4. You can adjust the opacity here or do it from the layer toolbar.
5. That’s it you have a watermarked image.
Logo Importance
Written by Dennis Bosher

Have you ever wondered what effect a logo has on those that view it? Look at it this

way. What's the first thing you think of when I mention McDonalds? Most of you would have

thought of those golden arches. Well Logos are important, but its importance lies in the reverse

of this example. Let me explain.

Sometimes when I mention a business, you may not

think of their logo first, But what if i show you a picture of the logo. 9 times out of 10, you

will be able to identify the business it is associated with. Of course this only applies with

businesses you have had contact with. Obviously if I show you the logo of some business

you have never heard of, You won't have a clue what the business is.

The importance of a logo lies in its ability to be remembered by a customer. Logos

need to remain simple, yet effective. The logo needs to be a graphic, of the business name.

Most people remember in pictures not words. When I ask you to remember the last

restaurant you ate at, does the name pop into your head, or a picture?

Perhaps you can't remember

the name of that restaurant, but you remember the logo on the napkin. It was a silver bullet

flying through a steak, then Boom! Silver Bullet Steak House, it triggers (pardon the puns) the

name of the restaurant. This is why logos are important, and why it is best to have one, which

is simply a graphic of you business name.
